Daffy Pendleton (ダフィー・ペンダルタン, Dafī Pendarutan) is a witch in MÄR Heaven: Devil of Caldea. She is the mastermind behind the incidents in the game and is Iffy's twin sister.

Due to being twins, Daffy bears the same face as Iffy, but has deep red eyes and blonde hair instead of pink for both. She also wears a pink dress with a matching shoulder cape.

Personality

In contrast to Iffy, Daffy has shown to be malicious and takes pleasure in her wrongdoings.

Etymology and Origin

Daffy's family name, Pendleton, is an English habitational surname from places in Lancashire, England, most notably the village of Pendleton and Pendle Hill. Pendle Hill is famous for the historical Pendle witch trials of 1612.

History

After the death of her older brother Chaffy and severing ties with her younger twin sister Iffy, Daffy became obsessed with several forbidden ÄRM recipes in the Pandora Records. From it, she crafted the parasitic Guardian ÄRM, Gotchi, and multiple Earth Jugglers. She then found a lonely girl named Wheat, and took advantage of her by offering Gotchi to her to use, knowing she would still accept despite the danger.

MÄR Heaven: Devil of Caldea

One late night, Daffy begins her plan by thrusting five Earth Jugglers into ground across the Caldean Islands. By the next morning, everyone immediately notices the problem of these strange-looking stakes, as they were preventing usage of Dimension ÄRMs like Andata. Meanwhile, Daffy chooses to hide out in the chapel of Magritte Cemetery, using it as her base of operations.

AKT.2 Matia Mine

After Garnish's battle with Team MÄR in Matia Mine, the former returns to the chapel of Magritte Cemetery to report to Daffy. To stall time for Schweitzer, Daffy instructs Wheat and Gotchi to go to Aunt Island and challenge MÄR in Claydon Forest.

AKT.3 Claydon Forest

Wheat returns to the chapel and complains about Gotchi's behavior, but Daffy dismisses her concern.

AKT.4 Caldea Temple

Schweitzer also goes to the chapel to report to Daffy. She expresses shock that a brawler like himself could lose in a fist fight. Schweitzer assures her that he wouldn't lose in a 1-on-1 fight. He then asks if his job with her was done and warns them of Ginta, highlighting that despite him being a kid, his powers and sixth sense are good. Wheat accuses him of being cowardly, and Schweitzer fires back saying a brat like her can't even get Gotchi to listen to her. Wheat attempts to wake Gotchi up from his inactive state but Daffy intervenes by yelling at them both to stop bickering. Daffy then confirms that Schweitzer's job was done and that he was free to go.

AKT.5 Undersea Volcanic Cave

In an attempt to get to Torneå Island from Aunt Island, Team MÄR tries using the cave network that spreads throughout the seabed between the two islands. Unbeknownst to MÄR, Daffy anticipated their arrival. She quietly appears in the shadows of the cave and whispers to Izune to come over to her. Izune wanders off, with Snow and Dorothy going after the little fox. Suddenly, a huge boulder appears and seals the girls off from the rest of the team. The boulder is filled with a magic power that Dorothy recognizes, and it takes no damage or even scratches from attacks. Both groups are forced to try another route from their sides to reunite, and Daffy returns to the chapel to wait while Wheat does her part.

Despite Daffy's efforts to separate MÄR in the magma cave to give Wheat and Gotchi an edge, Wheat refuses to go along with her strategy. Wheat takes the initiative to help both groups reunite and have a fair battle in the caves. When Wheat does return, she is shown to still be mentally and physically suffering from Gotchi's power. Daffy assesses that the girl's magic power can't keep up with Gotchi's growth as expected.

Team MÄR arrives at Magritte Cemetery and clashes with Fault. When they enter the chapel, they initially mistake Daffy for her sister, Iffy. However, Iffy herself appears behind them and exposes Daffy's identity. She confesses to being the mastermind behind the creation of Gotchi and the appearance of the Earth Jugglers. Ginta asks what her intentions are with Gotchi, and Daffy agrees to tell them, addressing him as the "boy from another world".

Iffy steps forward, crying out that no one would be happy with her actions. Daffy angrily calls out her sister's hypocrisy for having also crafting a forbidden ÄRM to prolong Izune's life while grabbing Izune by her collar, the forbidden Holy ÄRM, Gem Life. She then breaks the ÄRM and drops Izune to the floor.

AKT.8 ÄRM Shrine

Daffy retreats to the ÄRM Shrine on Torneå North Island with Wheat, the latter of whom is holding her head in pain. Team MÄR chase after her there, and they tell Wheat to let go of Gotchi, but despite understanding their concerns, she weakly declines, as Gotchi was all she had in terms of a "friend". MÄR engages in battle with Wheat, Gotchi, and Daffy, and though they won the battle, the trio manage to escape by teleporting away, though not before hinting on their destination.

AKT.9 Caldea Palace

At Caldea Palace, Daffy attacks Caldea's Grand Elder and she takes Wheat and Gotchi to the basement. By the time MÄR makes their way to the basement, they discover the monstrous form that Gotchi has evolved into after having "consumed" both Wheat and Daffy. MÄR battles the evil ÄRM, and manages to destroy him.

In the moment that Gotchi is destroyed, Iffy enters the dimension inside of Gotchi to find Wheat and Daffy. Wheat is still unconscious, and Daffy is confused about where they are at, surprised to see her sister. Iffy calmly informs her, and stated that according to Caldean law, she would execute her. Iffy reaches for Daffy to grab the Holy ÄRM, Gem Life, that she also wore and breaks it with her hand, causing Daffy's lifeforce to slowly drain. Daffy expresses regret over all that she had done, and Iffy admits guilt on her own part. Daffy reassures her little sister that she needn't carry such guilt, as the death of their brother Chaffy wasn't her fault. As a last request, Daffy asks Iffy to take care of Wheat on her behalf. Daffy then quietly thanks Ginta, before passing away.

ÄRMs

As an ÄRM user, Daffy prefers stamina-based strategy for long, drawn-out battles. Thus, she only has a few offensive ÄRMs and relies more on status changes for either herself or her opponent.

In-Game Stats

VS. Daffy

Daffy's deck only has 10 offensive ÄRMs in total. Instead, she frequently uses them to slow down opponents and recover HP, so you should use an attack-focused deck to keep the battle short. Also, all of Daffy's ÄRMs are Class 4 or lower and have no attributes, so if your ÄRM is Class 5, you won't be canceled or countered. When you activate a Class 5 ÄRM, don't rush into attacking, but aim carefully and make sure to hit your target.
