- "When the time comes, use it only with someone you can trust from the bottom of your heart."
- ―Iffy's instruction on the ÄRM
Evil Shield (イーヴィル・シールド, Īvu~iru Shīrudo) is an evil ÄRM in MÄR Heaven: Oblivion of Clavier. It's a specially crafted anti-Ghost ÄRM that sucks away magic power.
History
MÄR Heaven: Oblivion of Clavier
Returning to Reginleif Castle after their encounter with the Flat Sisters in Resign Village, Ginta, Babbo, Jack, and Snow discuss amongst themselves the Misty Knights who also appeared and attacked them. Suddenly, they hear a familiar voice, and Wheat appears before them. She tells Ginta to return to Caldea with her for a bit, and using her Dimension ÄRM, Andata, they warp to Caldea Laboratory inside Caldea Palace where they meet up with Alviss. Wheat then leads them both into the next room where she shows them jail cell bars that have been drastically beaten and bent. Wheat states that she wrecked the bars with her bare hands. When Alviss asks for clarification, Iffy walks in and states it was done with an evil ÄRM.
Iffy and Wheat explain the power of evil ÄRMs.
Iffy explains that evil ÄRMs are a series currently being developed to counter Ghost ÄRMs. Despite the intended use, evil ÄRMs are still dangerous to use as well. Wheat states that in their experiments, the prototype she had wasn't fully activated, so she was able to regain her senses and willpower. Iffy tells them that she's currently making some adjustments to the ÄRM to increase the chance of the user retaining their senses after full activation.
Lubanna Lighthouse
Team MÄR engages in battle with Sarah Band of the Ghost Chess in Lubanna Lighthouse but become weary from fighting her. They then receive unexpected reinforcements, with both Wheat and Schweitzer teleporting to the fight. They introduce themselves as witches of Caldea, and immediately attack Sarah. Schweitzer uses an ÄRM that splits himself into four, surrounding her and landing physical blows to her. Wheat then follows up his attack by partially activating Evil Shield, nulling Sarah's Ghost ÄRMs upon contact when she hits her. Schweitzer tells her to stand up, as he knows she wasn't going to die from their first hits. Sarah giggles, standing up to praise her own Ghost ÄRMs before teleporting away. Wheat suddenly falls to the ground, nearly fainting. Schweitzer chastises her for pushing herself when she hasn't yet made a full recovery from the evil damage to her body. Wheat stands back up, brushing it off as nothing she couldn't handle now.
Fide Arena
Alviss confronts the Ghost Chess in front of Fide Arena as his teammates behind him are trapped within the barrier formed by the Ghost ÄRM, Dissonance. However, with the painful symptoms of Alviss's Zombie Tattoo intensified by the Rondo of Time resurging, his teammates realize the only way for him to stand a chance against the Ghost Chess is for him to use the evil ÄRM, Evil Shield.
Since Evil Shield is an anti-Ghost ÄRM, they successfully toss it to him through the barrier. Alviss activates it, and the Ghost Chess are immediately alarmed. Flat B and Flat C are shaken at this new ÄRM that is suddenly sucking away their magic power. Pause and General attempt to stop him, but Alviss viciously beats them down and renders them unable to fight. Pause stares at Alviss, paralyzed with fear as he questions why such an ÄRM exists.
After the Ghost Chess leave, Alviss proceeds to destroy the barrier of Dissonance. However, he is unable to come to his senses and now poses a threat to his teammates. Suddenly, Wheat arrives on the scene, prepared for the situation at hand. She hands Dorothy the legendary Holy ÄRM, Splash Coat, that she had borrowed from Caldea Palace's treasure vault, and tells her to use it on her so she safely stop Alviss. She battles him all on her own, and manages to knock him down as she collapses simultaneously. With both Evil Shield and Splash Coat deactivating, Alviss regains his senses and Wheat tells MÄR that she's repaid her debt to them.
Trivia
- When Alviss initially confronts the Ghost Chess alone in front of Fide Arena, painful symptoms from his Zombie Tattoo magnified by the Rondo of Time cripple him. At this point, the player (as Ginta) is given the choice between tossing Evil Shield to Alviss or not. If the player (Ginta) chooses to toss Evil Shield to Alviss himself, then Wheat will not arrive later with Splash Coat to enable her to stop Alviss.
