Vestry (ヴェストリ, Vu~esutori) is a prominent town in the northwestern region of the Hild Continent. Known as the town of water and forest, a farming city world famous for its beautiful scenery.

Toponymy and Origin

A vestry is a room in or a building attached to a church, in which the vestments, and sometimes liturgical objects, are kept. It can also be used as a chapel, for prayer meetings, for the Sunday school, etc.

History

Six to four years before the first war games, a Caldean outlaw named Phantom fell in love with a Vestrian sailor girl named Alma, frequently visited her and they began a romantic relationship. Unlike Phantom, Alma valued human potential and mortality, so after he received the Zombie Tattoo from Diana, they had a fight over their beliefs on humanity and immortality. Alma ended their argument by telling Phantom he would never be more than he already was, and left him with Peta in the cave of Vestry. Phantom would never see her alive again.

First Great MÄR Heaven War

After the First Great MÄR Heaven War began, she and a number of other sailors from Vestry were slain by the Chess Pieces, who feared the power of the ÄRM that Alma had and used a Dimension ÄRM to seal them in the cave.

Six-Year Interlude

For the next six years, the ghosts of Alma and her fellow sailors haunted their ship that had been trapped in Vestry's underground lake.

Second Great MÄR Heaven War

During the early stages of the Second Great MÄR Heaven War, two Bishops of the Chess, Girom and Orco, would attack Vestry once again and sought out the ÄRM that was still rumored to remain in the lake. After the duo had finished ravaging the town and headed into the cave that contained the underground lake, Team MÄR arrived on scene, in complete shock of the destruction. A few men approached the group to inquire their identities, but decided that it didn't matter, as Vestry couldn't recover. Ginta tried to encourage the man to not give up, but he relented as having been a former member of the Cross Guard couldn't help him protect his town. Nanashi stepped forward, asking where the two Chess Pieces went, and the man confirmed that they went after the ÄRM rumored to be in cave.

Snow, Edward, and Jack volunteered to treat the villagers' wounds and provide food while the rest of Team MÄR hunted down the destructive duo in the cave; Ginta and Babbo battled Girom aboard the ghost ship while Nanashi battled Orco elsewhere in the cave (with Dorothy observing). Nanashi defeated Orco effortlessly, and Ginta defeated Girom. The ghosts pleaded with Ginta to make a hole in the cave wall so that the ship could sail out to sea and they could ascend to Heaven. Ginta happily obliged, and poured all his energy into Babbo so that Gargoyle could make a hole big enough for the ship. Alma's spirit engulfed Ginta and Babbo, and carried them back to the cave's lake shore, putting a magic stone and the Purific Ave in Ginta's hand, both in order to aid him in defeating Phantom.

Team MÄR spent a couple more days in Vestry. On their last evening there, the village headman thanked the entire team by individual name. Once Team MÄR departed for Reginleif Castle to participate in the War Games, Vestry's downtrodden people, inspired with hope again, started to work on rebuilding their home.

War Games

During the Final Round of the War Games, a large number of Vestry citizens appeared to watch the fights.

After the War Games

After Lestava Castle was reclaimed by Team MÄR, reports from various locations in MÄR Heaven were sent to the castle about strange objects falling from the sky. Ginta and his teammates examine the mysterious Moai that fell upon Lestava Castle Town when a soldier rushes to inform him that a large steel tower fell upon Vestry. The team warps there to examine the structure. Nanashi mistakenly identifies it as the Tsūtenkaku, but Ginta swiftly corrects him by confirming it to be the Eiffel Tower.

MÄR Heaven: KNOCKIN' ON HEAVEN'S DOOR

The events of the game are quite similar to those of the anime/manga. After MÄR defeats the two Bishops of the Chess Pieces in the Underground Lake and Ginta sets the ghost ship free with Gargoyle, one of three sealed doors opens in a small cave on the eastern edge of Vestry. Marl, who was lurking in the area, decided to seize the opportunity and run off to the cave as the villagers were celebrating MÄR's triumph. However, Ginta, Babbo, and Jack take notice of the strange boy running through town and decide to follow him.
